That was meant to be confusing after the demise of THQ… what’s to happen with the IPs?

One of the best title ever released under the THQ banner is/was Saints Row: the Third. Good game. Crazy game. Fun game.

Those in the know were aware that there was plans for a Saints Row 4 (not really surprising) and a Saints Row 3.5 called Enter the Donimatrix. That was all under the realm of THQ. During that era, what the public knew of the future of the franchise was already fuzzy. Partly because of the marketing nature of such franchise, but also because of corporate modification trough THQ, and the bankruptcy that was coming.  But things have changed, and the Saints are now published by Deep Silver – which seems to be a good things as people at Volition reported that Deep Silver has been a fan of Saints Row and Volition all along.

Little is known of Deep Silver’s intentions with the Third Street Saints.

Volition’s direction was rather clear: the story of the characters we know from the current installment was supposed to come to a conclusion. Within Saints Row IV, the Saints are supposed to be newly elected president while aliens attack earth. Talk about concluding a story arc! Anyway, that’s what was unveiled in march 2013, talking about an august release. This is after the acquisition, so plans shouldn’t change all that much. Realistically, the guys at Volition probably have been asked to resume work that started before the takeover.

But what about the expansion/DLC/mid-instalment game known as Saints Row: Enter The Dominatrix?

Saints Row wikia still says it is a cancelled expansion pack for Saints Row III. That it is merged with Saints Row IV. But Game Informer reports that “Enter the Dominatrix” is now slated as Saints Row IV DLC and planned in October

The first DLC called Enter the Dominatrix is coming 45 days after the game ships. It features a behind-the-scenes style narration as the characters explain why the content was cut from the game.

No matter if it is standalone, Saints Row III expansion or Saints Row IV DLC, let’s count on the guys at Volition to blow our minds with an amazing piece of game like they’ve been doing all along.
